Carl Zeiss Research Award: Excellence in optical research

The Carl Zeiss Research Award has been presented every two years since 1990 in honor of outstanding achievements in international optical research. It is one of the most prestigious prizes in the field of optics.

In 2013 Professor Anne L’Huillier from Lund University in Sweden was honored for her pioneering work in the field of high harmonic generation which has laid the foundation for the generation of attosecond impulses and enabled key advances in attosecond physics.

She joins a long list of renowned award-winners including subsequent Nobel laureates Eric A. Cornell, , Ahmed Zewai, Stefan Hell and Shuji Nakamura.

Starting with 2016 the Carl Zeiss Research Award will be presented by CARL ZEISS AG, the Ernst-Abbe-Fonds will award the Carl Zeiss Award for Young Researchers instead.
